Carriers Mull 'Code Of Conduct'
Faced with increasing local and national government calls for a "cell phone user bill of rights", the various wireless carriers are now considering a self-imposed uniform "code of conduct" to try to take the pressure off of them. The code of conduct would be for billing and service quality. According to the article, while publicly supporting such an idea, most people inside the carriers say they don't want such a code of conduct because they're afraid it will water down their "competitive advantage". Of course, none of that matters if the government decides the issue for them. If anything, it sounds like this public announcement that carriers are "thinking about" the issue is a sign to politicians to back off and let the industry figure it out for themselves (even if they really won't).
