Most Security Experts Do Not Trust Microsoft

from the big-surprise-there dept

I doubt anyone is really surprised, but, a new study shows that security experts at large companies don't trust Microsoft's software to be secure. Of course, at the same time, plenty of them said they use it for sensitive applications without making any modifications to increase the security. So it's come to this? Security experts at big companies have simply resigned themselves to living in a world where everyone plays it a bit risky and hopes that the security holes they know are there never catch up to them?

    It was ever thus

For example: big companies search your briefcase when you enter/leave the building but don't try to control whether you have a floppy in your shirt pocket.

The key is to be as good as everyone else in your industry; there's no reward for being better.
