Luxury Goods Go Slumming, Thanks To The Internet

The internet is being credited with bringing "luxury" goods into the living rooms of ordinary Americans. People who wouldn't normally be considered buyers of luxury goods are increasingly going online, researching and then purchasing such items for themselves. Electronics and gardening supplies seem to be the two largest areas of luxury purchases. I wonder how many of these things are actually "luxury" goods - and how many are simply companies trying to expand their market by offering cheaper, lower quality goods to middle class America?
