The End Of Tech History?
from the don't-worry-so-much dept
I don't often agree with Charles Cooper's Friday morning columns, but today I think he's made a good point. With all the whining going about the problems in the tech industry, many people keep looking for a place to put the blame. First it was internet excesses, then venture capitalists, and now some are complaining that Moore's Law is ending - and the tech industry will suffer because of it. Cooper is telling people to get over it, and I agree. There are a ton of very powerful and revolutionary things happening in the technology industry right now that will have a huge impact in the next few years. Some of the best technology businesses are usually created and built during the worst economic times (since they have to build fundamentally sound businesses). So, for those complaining about what a downer technology is these days - you're missing out.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
