Intel Kicks Off Carrier Collaboration
Tough times call for hand holding, apparently. In order to gain more market share in the mobile phone chip market, Intel has started signing deals with carriers to work with them to "fine tune" mobile phones that use Intel chips to better work with the carrier's service. The first announced deal is with mmO2, though others are expected to follow pretty quickly. The idea is to get these carriers to push Intel-based phones instead of the alternatives by getting some "pull" from the carriers, instead of just leaving it up to the handset makers themselves.
