How Technology Is Changing Sports

Business Week is running a "special report" on how technology is changing the world of sports. It includes stories about how sports teams are using computers for things that used to be done manually, such as putting together film highlights for players to study, or determining who to draft. Providing specialized software for many different types of sports is becoming a booming business and is taking a lot of the "hunch" system out of practice. I know that many baseball teams are now very focused on statistical analysis using computers instead of human hunches to make many of their decisions. Other articles in the report include one on technology in training athletes, how technology is changing the way fans interact with the game, and how it's improving sporting equipment (which focuses mainly on new technology in golf, and suggesting that the USGA lift restrictions on technology enhanced golf equipment for amateurs).
