DoCoMo Trials Faster 3G

Japan keeps moving further ahead in the wireless world. The latest is that DoCoMo is testing out a High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) system that would increase speeds on their network "up to" 14.2Mbps (of course the "up to" part is always misleading... but, still, it beats the "up to 120k" or whatever many current 2.5G plans seem to offer). HSDPA is also apparently backwards compatible with plenty of other 3G systems people are working on (WCDMA, CDMA2000, and EV-DV) so, it could allow for interoperability over systems that were built up on different technologies originally.
