McDigital Marketing

from the can-McDonald's-use-technology-to-turn-itself-around? dept

While Krispy Kreme has been using technology for years to keep their business strong, McDonald's is now looking at technology to help turn the company around. We've already spoken about plans to offer DVD rental kiosks, "quick payment" keychains, and offer wireless connectivity to anyone who buys a value meal. With all that technology, they've realized that it's about time that they started advertising like mad online. They're pushing a new online advertising strategy (which I imagine will promote some of these technology initiatives) to try to bring customers back to their restaurants which have been struggling over the past few years. Of course, if I start getting pop-ups adveritising Big Macs, it's only going to make sure I stay away from McDonald's.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Better food and service would be a bigger help to turning their business around.

    Spam not popups

I recieved an email for a buy-one-get-one-free big mac yesterday. I guess they are using spam over pop-ups.
