Roland Piquepaille writes "Unmanned airplanes are now routinely used by armed forces. But can they also be useful in our daily lives? Rafe Needleman thinks so and wrote an article for Business 2.0 about two companies pioneering these civilian usages. The Insitu Group is currently marketing its Seascan for several applications, like search and rescue. MLB's Bat, like the Seascan, can run completely autonomously and will be used for reconnaissance services sold to the police or TV stations. I've written up a summary of Needleman's story with pictures of these unmanned planes, but please read Needleman's article for more information about the Insitu Group and MLB."

    New era of psuedo-terrorism?

    If those unmanned planes can be loaded with dynamite, with sulfuric acid, then you get the picture. Perhaps we'll have a future of terrorism for pettier, smaller causes, not those that change the world.
