The Wireless Instant Replay
People who know me well know that I'm fairly obsessed with baseball. I love going to games, but I'll admit that the experience has tradeoffs to sitting at home in front of the TV. You get a lot more information and stats and better views from the TV. However, the experience of being in the middle of things is tough to beat too. Now, a company thinks they can create the best of both worlds for the fan at a live sporting event by using WiFi networks to let fans tap into replays, closeups, stats, and other info while they're at the game. I'm a little confused how this works. Are fans expected to bring their own laptops (or, possibly, PDAs?). Or are they going to just use stadium provided kiosks? I'm not sure I'm comfortable with having the drunk fans sitting behind me spilling beer all over my laptop.
