T-Mobile Integrates Voice, HotSpot Billing
For a while now, people have been wondering how T-Mobile was going to integrate their WiFi and cellular strategies. It seems they're now taking the first step. They're offering integrated billing for both - and are offering discounted WiFi hotspot rates for those who are subscribers to T-Mobile mobile phone plans. This is actually a bit more tempting to me. If you use T-Mobile (and I do, for my Danger hiptop), then you can get $20/month service at any T-Mobile hotspot. It's not in the article, but I know I read somewhere else that the $20/month offer also doesn't require a yearly-contract. If there were more hotspots (and I know they're increasing all the time), and the price continues to drop (less than $10 month seems much more compelling), this might actually start to get closer to reasonable.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
