More Dubiously Funded Research
In a recent national survey, the analysts found that 76% of motorists thought drivers should use a hands-free device while driving and talking on the phone. The firm that conducted the survey? Plantronics, purveyor of fine handsfree accessories. Come on, guys! Even Microsoft knows enough to hire an "independent" analyst to be their shill. Meanwhile, the 76% figure is largely the result of how the question was asked: "Do you think OTHER people should use hands-free...?" not "Will you...". Only one in five of the respondents actually voted with their actions, claiming to usually use hands-free in the car. For safety's sake, please remember that "hands-free" refers to the use of the phone, and not the driving of the car (that's "cruise control".)
