Nokia To Enable Photo Printing From Cell Phones
Kodak has been trying to deal with the question of digital cameras for years, and now are seeing that camera phones are moving on up to occupy even the low end of the digital camera space - representing a continued threat (or opportunity?) for the company. In this case, they've been pretty quick to act, signing up with Nokia to create a picture service that makes it easier to store, send, and print digital photos. Of course, you can do all these activities fairly easily without the aid (or expense) of Kodak. However, I'm sure some people will want to feel comfortable with the service before exploring the possibilities on their own. Still, it seems like a limited long-term prospect, since most kids will quickly figure out all they need to know to operate their own camera phones - including storing, sending, and printing their pictures. Actually, the kids may wonder why the hell anyone would ever want to "print" a picture if it's on the web somewhere. Why bother at all?
