Online Cyranos Offer A Guiding Hand Through Internet Dating Maze

from the need-a-little-help? dept

First, when everyone was looking for jobs online, there were the "resume doctors" that started showing up everywhere. Now, since online dating is the hot thing, it seems there's a growing market for online dating consultants who will help you jazz up your profile. They say the most common problem is people who write boring descriptions that contain no useful information, such as "I like movies". There are even photographers who specialize in taking photos for dating sites.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    Clones

I wonder how many people have the courage to admit they DON'T like movies, listening to music, or travelling?

How many men have the courage to admit that their true hobbies are playing war games on the net, surfing for porn, and reciting Monty Python movies on mute?

How many women have the courage to admit that their true hobbies are maxing out credit cards, talking on the cell phone during dates, and reciting romance comedies on mute?

Hehehe.... If it is a movie at the movie theater, I'll admit I don't want to watch it. Now if it is on my DVD player at home, I love movies (Star Trek, Star Wars, Matrix, etc.) Of course, I am sure I won't find too many women interested in those movies. Which means I am a geek, and destined to be a geek forever...(or atleast until I find a respectible woman who will merry a geek and not try to change his geekdom.)

I'll admit to everything but the surfing for porn.

      "A newt?"
      "I got better."

How many people will admit that none of that stuff matters if there's chemistry and rapport, which can't be decided over a DSL connection?
BTW: Count me as a woman who has no credit card debt, doesn't answer the phone when busy and hates Meg Ryan movies.
