Paris Wi-Fi Experiment - Not So Hot After All
Discussed by both Alan Reiter and Glenn Fleishman is the story that Paris' well-hyped WiFi trials have not been very successful. Not many people used the free WiFi, and those that did, only did so once. To make matters worse, the group behind the project has decided that since the numbers looked so bad, they might as well give people even less incentive to use the service, and will be charging 10 euros per hour. Yet another misplaced, mispriced WiFi business model. And they'll wonder why it fails... One interesting point, in a comment on Glenn's post, someone pointed out that if you were to sit down with a laptop in a Paris Metro station, you would probably find that you didn't own the laptop for very long...
