Business Users Will Use Mobile Email

Must have been tough to come up with this prediction. An analyst firm looked around at the business mobile phone user, and decided that, five years from now, more people will check their email by mobile phone than they do now. Not exactly going out on a limb, are they?

    Yawn

Mobile E-Mail!!! Yawn! RIM cracked that egg back in 1999. A mobile application that is essentially generic, like e-mail, will work across all enterprise customers (Horizontal) and thus have a large market. However, the generic apps are already being commoditized (RIM, GOOD, Danger) and prices will be pummeled. Vertical applications that meet specific industry needs (SFA, telematics, lumber calculator and order system) will be the silent weapons that actually receive loyalty and margin over the long term.
