Problems With WiFi

Researchers just love to point out problems with WiFi. The latest is a group of researchers who say that if a slower device connects to a WiFi network, it drags the whole network down. Of course, if this were a really big problem, it certainly would have been discovered before now. The article explains how this happens pretty clearly. Basically, if you're on the same channel, the channel has to wait for the slower device. The researchers are especially worried that this will cause problems on 802.11g and a systems, which are set to run much higher. Again, of course, this won't matter for most people who don't use any of the various WiFi solutions at anywhere near the speed they can handle. They also admit that once 802.11e stuff (involving quality of service) comes around, it shouldn't be as big a problem.
