WSJ Discovers Spammed Enlargement Pills Contaminated With Crap
from the quite-literally dept
Back in June we wrote about some of the details behind a typical penis pill spam scam operation, where it was (in case you hadn't realized) clearly determined that the pills didn't do a damn thing and were made up of random ingredients. Not to be outdone, the Wall Street Journal is now on the case, and picked up a few of these pills themselves to have them "analyzed", to see what their ingredients really held. Interesting to note the types of stories the financial community is interested in these days... Turns out, that along with some of the advertised ingredients the pills turned up "significant levels of E. coli, yeast, mold, lead and pesticide residues." If that doesn't get the point across, there's this lovely quote from the head of the infectious-diseases department at the University of Maryland: "I think it's safe to say it has heavy fecal contamination." So, to top off the fact that these folks are spamming people every day with a scam operation that seems to catch morons by the thousands, the pills are also filled with shit (quite literally). Seems somehow fitting.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
