AT&T CEO Can't Get Cellular Service In His House
from the can-you-hear-me-now? dept
AT&T's CEO, Dave Dorman, mentioned in a speech that, despite being who he is, he can't use his AT&T Wireless mobile phone in his house, and is forced to go out to the driveway to make phone calls. Of course, AT&T and AT&T Wireless are two totally separate companies at this point (though, clearly, most people confuse the two). Also, it's pretty clear he's not asking for pity, but to convince his neighbors to stop blocking the building of new towers. So, now here's the question I'm wondering: is Mr. Dorman planning on switching to a different carrier this November when local number portability comes about, letting him keep his phone number while moving to another carrier?Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
