Hutchison Whampoa '3' To Start Operations In Denmark
I can't wait to see how Mike analyzes this one. He has been merciless with '3' in the UK because of their management and marketing gaffes, and now (subscription required, sorry) Hutchison is gearing up to be the first to launch 3G services in Denmark this October 13. Launching under the same '3' brand as in Italy and the UK, they will beat to market TDC, TeliaSonera, and Orange, who also hold 3G licenses for Denmark. Despite the UK problems, different regions have different '3' management, and different situations - for example, the Italian '3' has done much better than its UK sibling. However, it looks like '3' Denmark will only have one phone model, the Motorola A920 at launch, which is frighteningly reminiscent of the poor handset availability of '3' UK at launch. Get ready, Mike.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
