Did The HP Rockers Know What They Were Supporting?
from the maybe-not dept
Last week, HP made a big splash with their music announcements - with a big part of it being focused on how important it was to stop those darn kids from sharing music. They even trotted out a bunch of rock stars to support that viewpoint, but folks at the Register are wondering if those rock stars had any idea what they were on stage supporting, as many of their past comments about the recording industry and downloadable music suggest that they didn't agree with the viewpoints being expressed on the stage they were standing on. In fact, some have even said that they support music sharing and think it's a good way to get fan support.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

How sad
Ohh, I hear the complaints now, "How would you like it if....", or "It's my song...".
Somewhere we lost our morality...opps... Did they even have it?
