Kyocera's Batteries, Unlike Nokia's, Do Explode
Oops. A few months back, exploding mobile phone batteries were all the rage, as both Nokia and Kyocera had to deal with claims that their batteries were exploding and injuring people. In both cases, it was found out not to be true. It was either conterfeit batteries or a safety mechanism where graphite dust was expelled and not an explosion. However, Kyocera's extended look into this issue suggests that things weren't so great. It turns out their batteries do explode, and today they issued a recall of 140,000 batteries, saying that they could short circuit.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post.
