AT&T Wireless Sale Will Shift Balance Of Power, Somehow For Some Company

Of course it's difficult to be in the predictions business, so sometimes you have to cut these people some slack. However, the over the top predictions are just screaming to be questioned. Here's a report telling those of you who don't know that the sale of AT&T Wireless will "shift the balance of power". Of course, we still don't know who is buying AT&T Wireless, so it's not really clear how the balance of power will shift. The only thing that can really be said is that, well, the new owner will own AT&T Wireless - and therefore be bigger by the size of... (you guessed it) AT&T Wireless. If that's all it takes to be a big shot in the predictions business, sign us up. I'd now like to predict that if anyone were to buy Sprint PCS, they'd get bigger by the size of Sprint PCS. That's right, you heard it here first.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
