Penis Pill Company Sued For Fraud
from the surprise-surprise...-they-don't-work dept
It should be of no surprise to anyone that the various "penis enlargement" pills that are advertised via spam don't work - and, if anything, could be contaminated with stuff that harmful to you. However, no one's really done anything about it. The FTC has admitted in the past that they'd much rather spend their time chasing after spam scams that involve financial fraud. Besides, it was pretty tough to find anyone who would actually admit to buying some of those pills... until now. John writes in to tell us that someone is now suing a bunch of companies involved in the penis pill spam business and is trying to get it turned into a class-action lawsuit for all of those too shy to come forward. A lawyer in the article points out that it's unlikely to get class action treatment - and you still have to wonder how many people would actually come forward and admit to being in that "class". Meanwhile, one of the companies sued is claiming innocence by saying they just ship the stuff, but have nothing to do with actually selling it.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
