More And More Americans Surfing The Internet

from the look-at-'em-go dept

alex was the first of a few to write in about a new study showing that over 200 million Americans now have internet access - making it just about 3/4 of the US population. The article also points out that more women than men are surfing, but, honestly, the numbers are pretty close.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    Surfing the Internet

I'm way to old to surf any more, but dag nabbit this new fangled Internet sure sounds interesting. Maybe some young whiz kid could invent a wadding pool, or maybe just a hot towel way to use the Internet pool. If so, count me there!

    About 300M Americans

Okay, I admit I am being a bit picky, but wouldn't that be coser to 2/3 of Americans?

Should say "3/4 of population above school age" or something similar since if you subtract out young kids, you get the 75% (which makes more sense that "all Americans" anyway).
Yeah, I obviously have too much free time today
