AT&T Wireless Customers Bailing As Fast As Possible
AT&T Wireless's troubles continue. They certainly had a bad final quarter last year with various technical problems with their network and with number portability. Put on top of that the circus surrounding the selling of the company, and it should be no surprise that customers are deserting them at a rapid clip. Verizon Wireless is even gloating that they've won 10 customers from AT&T Wireless for every one they've lost. At this rate, there may not be many customers left when Cingular takes over the building. Still, it seems they've realized they've got a problem and are trying to stop the rampage towards the exit signs. It seems a bit late for them to have figured this out though. They've known that number portability was coming for years, and they apparently didn't realize how much it would impact them.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
