Chinese WLAN Standard Moving Forward

With all the articles complaining about China's own WiFi-wannabe standard, it's interesting to read an article on the same topic from a Chinese publication. It focuses on how the standard is moving forward and equipment that works with the standard should be on the market soon. The article doesn't ignore the controversy over the standard, but does brush over the complaints about it. It plays up the security concerns about WiFi, which is a complete red herring. They also play down the risk of Chinese firms taking foreign company intellectual property in licensing agreements necessary for those firms to offer WAPI (the Chinese standard) equipment. The general conclusion is that foreign firms simply won't be able to resist the Chinese market, and thus will be forced to give in and accept WAPI and the conditions that come with it. It's becoming a question of which side will blink first.
