Yes, But When Can I Switch Off From Work?
from the 24-hour-lifestyle dept
Welcome to the modern "always on, always connected" work world. It's gotten to the point where Microsoft discovered, after handing out smart phones, tablet PCs and broadband connections to employees that they needed to give their employees special instructions on how to turn off work. This isn't a new problem, and it's certainly been discussed before. While some people can handle the work/life balance without a problem - it's not so easy for everyone else. Even for those who can switch off, it's made more difficult by their colleagues who can't - and who contact them at odd hours with work requests. This is going to become a bigger issue for modern companies to deal with. There are, obviously, some advantages, but people need to learn their limits.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

vehicle tracking
Vehicle security, in the form of gps car tracking, had emerged. A powerful weight in the car security stakes, a superior need in the fleet managers armoury. Its inherent ability grants fleet management and vehicle tracking interested parties the function of live 24/7 tracking via gps satellite - a powerful weapon in the covert tracking and security war. No longer will vehicles get lost, no longer will children go missing, no longer will cheating partners feel safe driving the family car and no longer will employees be able to pull the wool over their fleet managers' eyes. No, now is the time when car tracking and security must take responsibility itself for the industry it created, and now is the time when gps vehicle tracking will dawn unto the new age of car security. Let the security war commence!
