Political Spamming In India
from the all-the-rage dept
While we've complained about political spam campaigns here in the US, it seems to have been taken to another level in India, where campaigns are spamming both email and text messaging accounts with wild abandon. In fact, the campaigns have done deals with wireless carriers to send messages to all of their subscribers. This seems politically stupid. If you're on the fence about a candidate, will having them bug you with a "vote for me!" spam message make you any more inclined to vote for them - or will it make you question what they think of protecting your inbox.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Outsourced Spam
Ahha , the irony.
Outsourced Spam ... lol
India not only gets our jobs but our problematic spam as well.
Perhaps some of the unemployed American here can come up with a way to stop all this spam for these poor people.
For a list of American companies outsourcing your job:
