Senate Looking At Intellectual Property Bills

from the sigh dept

The Senate Judiciary committee has given the okay on four proposed intellectual property bills, meaning they can now go to the Senate floor to be voted on. Among those are a version of the bill that would let the FBI file civil suits against file sharers. That's right, basically the FBI would be signed up to handle the private complaints of the entertainment industry. One of the other bills looks to be a copy of a California bill that bans video cameras inside movie theaters - meaning you could potentially get arrested and thrown in jail for using the video camera on your mobile phone just while standing in a movie theater.
