Online Gambling... For A Living

While the US continues to ban online gambling (and look for ways to stop anyone who dares to find non-US-based sites to keep on gambling), the UK has decided it's better to just regulate online gambline -- especially as some players seem to be making something of a career out of it. Of course, the online poker player they talk to seems to have made a career out of beating Americans who shouldn't be gambling online anyway: "The best time to play is between 4am and 7am," she explains, "because the Americans are playing - and they're drunk."

Internet Gambling
Hello from the UK.

What is even more interesting is the gambling bill now being reviewed by Parliment.

One of its provisions would make for a tax-free enviornment for internet gambling firms in the UK. The idea is that its better to create jobs and keep the internet gambling companies in the UK than lose them to offshore Islands (such as Canary). Add this to a regulatory function, and the UK will not only legitimize internet gambling, but also catalyze its rapid growth.

Curently, the internet gambling market is ~ $7.5 billion; by the end of next year, it will be $15 billion; The internet gambling market will be a $200 billion market by 2015.

The US will miss out on a huge economic opportunity essentially because the States see internet gambling as a threat to their lottery revenues.

He's only half right
The guy in the story is funny but many people make a living gambling online. I don't make my living doing it but I do make some nice side income. Here's the story of one gent who decided to see if he could make a living playing poker online while he waited for a full time tech gig.

Asian markets have a way bigger supply of gambling addicts who are prevented from gambling legally. Millions of laborers throughout the region who work those 18-hour days like to spend it all on illegal street gambling. There is a common practice of retail stores that suddenly shut down overnight, because the owner incurred huge gambling losses and is on the run from the mob. Incredible con artists too, who are grand masters at the art of cheating. It'll be interesting to see the upcoming havoc.

ya right...
the UK players are some of the worst on the net... mostly loose-passive players, if anything we feed on them, but there are sharks on both sides.... the only people I really look out for are the Swedes, them as a collective group seem to be pretty good players, the people in the UK are gambling degenrates

Gambling could be a hobby. It might have a good and bad effect. It is now easy to access it online now a days. As what Europeans are doing as they play poker online. Though it could be a waste of time,money, and effort but it's nice to have a career out of it..
