Mobile Phoning For The Elderly: About More Than The Phones
from the the-whole-experience... dept
There's been a lot of talk in the last year or so about building mobile phones that are more senior citizen friendly -- including a larger screen and bigger buttons to make it easier to see and to dial. While some efforts are being made on that front, it's still not enough to please some, who are upset that the various mobile phone plans and service options are still created in a way that will confuse your average non-techie senior citizen. They don't know which plan is right for them, and they don't want to understand all the complexities and caveats found in most plans today -- not to mention all the various additional surprise fees. The industry feels attacked on this issue, but they clearly could be doing a better job creating service plans that aren't so confusing and complex -- especially when targeted at seniors.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
