Spamming, Exaggerating, Overpriced, Overhyped Computer Company Dead
from the so-much-for-that-plan dept
A few months ago, I talked about how a company spammed us with 11 press releases, all in capital letters, without a reply-to email address. I didn't want to mention the company, because they didn't deserve any publicity, but now that they're going out of business, why not? Liebermann Computers, who had a not-very-long history of promoting repackaged computers at about twice the price of what anyone else was selling them for, while making questionable, extra-hyped up claims about them, is apparently closing up shop. Apparently, their spam and hype method of marketing didn't actually bring in very many customers. However, if they had to go out of business, they certainly seem to have figured out a plan to go out of business in the same manner in which they were in business: with lots of incomprehensible hype: "Like no other has such a small company managed so to quickly to be so inventive and groundbreaking and like no other has a young business in technology so rapidly reached the minds and hearts of so many people from all parts of the globe and capture their imagination." But, like so many others, this company didn't actually make any money.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
