Rodney King Style Cameraphone Video Gets Creator Beaten As Well

The idea that cameraphones will be used to record crimes in action and publicize them -- a la Rodney King -- isn't a new idea. That seems to be exactly what happened in India, when someone (who just happened to be a documentary film producer) saw a traffic warden beating on a taxi driver who failed to stop. Of course, from there, the story takes a somewhat different twist. As Alan Reiter points out, the warden, realizing he was being filmed, then turned to beat on the film maker for capturing his attack on the taxi driver. While the cameraphone's ability to capture crimes on film is noted, Reiter also worries about people who step up to capture such evidence will then be targeted themselves.

    Reiter's comments seem rather obvious to me. Criminals tend to not like witnesses. Notice that the Rodney King video seemed to be shot from a distance....
