EU Might Move Forward On Software Patents, Anyway

from the eh...-if-we-don't-like-it,-we-don't-follow-the-rules dept

Last week, we noted that due to a proceedural issue, the EU was being told to start all over again on the issue of software patents -- which seemed like a victory to those opposed to the idea (even if the new version could be problematic as well). Well, now things are getting even more confusing as Slashdot reports that the EU is considering ignoring the start all over again recommendation and simply moving forward with the proposal once again -- this time, without objections from Poland, who had been instrumental in delaying the issue while raising questions about the proposal. This has been quite a roller coaster ride, and it's not likely to be over just yet.
