More Mobile Cheaters... This Time In Bangkok
Back in November we had the story of a massive mobile cheating scam in Korea, involving hundreds of students. Now, it looks like a bunch of students in Bangkok tried to do a similar trick for a military school entrance exam. Of course, the big difference this time was that the kids got caught. They were searched as they entered the room, and some of the kids acted suspiciously -- leading to them getting caught, and admitting that others were doing the same thing. The other interesting point is that officials say the parents of these students were in on the scam and knew what was happening. Using mobile phones to cheat is nothing new, but as those administering exams are more aware of the issue and know what to look for, it shouldn't be that big of a problem over time. It's just that the technology is still a bit ahead of the watchers right now.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
