DVD Fight Almost Over? Will It Matter?

Could it be? After years and years of fighting over the next generation of DVD standards, Sony and Toshiba are finally looking at agreeing on a single standard. Of course during these years of fighting, a lot has changed, and many are wondering if content on a plastic disc is still relevant. So, while they may finally agree on a single standard, it's an open question as to whether or not consumers will really care.

dvds become useless.
i see them sticking around for another 10 years.
VCR's should be dead by now but they are still around and they still work and they still record shows and people don't have to pay huge fees to TIVO to do this.
