Star Wars Galaxies Unmasked As Music Banning Online Game

A few weeks back, we noted Ed Felten's claims that a well-known online multi-player game had yanked a feature letting characters play music, out of a fear that the music would violate copyrights, and they'd get sued. Wired News has now unmasked the game in question as Star Wars Galaxies, including quotes from folks at LucasArts saying that, indeed, it was a legal mess they didn't want to get involved in -- despite the fact that you would think common sense would say this shouldn't be an issue at all. Watch out casual whistlers, the RIAA may be after you next...

    Star Wars Cancelled in Japan

    They cancelled a preview showing of the movie in Japan, due to concerns that people would film it in the theater.
