Remember a few months back, when the entertainment industry gloated about their raid of torrent tracker site The Pirate Bay? It was one in a long line of the industry claiming it had made a significant blow against piracy. Of course, as most people know, the site was back up within days and has remained so. In fact, the whole thing acted as a huge advertisement for the site who now reports that they continue to grow rapidly in the months following their supposed death.

What happened to the police chief that authorized
Since Pirate Bay wasn't breaking any laws, the raid on their offices was illegal and probably politically motivated. The end up moving their servers to another country but what happened to the police person that OK'ed the raid? Any legal action against the police for illegal search?

Perhaps they should...
Perhaps the RIAA should...

1. Stop deciding for the public what they ought to listen to and buy via the RIAA's strangle hold relationship with the radio & broadcast media.

2. Stop ripping off their content producers (the musicians) and start paying them reasonable royalties and pay them *ALL* the money they're rightfully owed. (How many times has the Music industry been sued by the artists who's cause they're supposedly championing?)

3. Stop price fixing CD costs and gouging the living crap out of the buying public. (Frankly I wouldn't even mind current prices that much if most of the money went to the artists, but it sure as shit doesn't.)

If the businesses that are the core of the RIAA want people to obey the law - then they ought to start by setting a better example. When I hear the term "RIAA" all that comes to mind is 'Thieving Pukes!'

As for the MPAA - hell, you'd think they'd be glad that people are even bothering to download their crap. 95% of what comes out from the MPAA these days is nothing short of cultural nerve gas. It's 'teh suck'. I've seen far more Indie & Non U.S. produced films this year there were worth watching than anything from the MPAA's stable. Which is damn sad. More often than not, I got to a Hollywood picture and come out thinking "Damn, I want those hours of my life back!" I for one am not downloading MPAA content.

Not sure what the laws are in Sweden, but in the US a search warrant doesn't require proof of illegal activity, only a reasonable suspicion. Meaning just because someone is found innocent, that doesn't make the entire investigation illegal.
