Vote Now For The Open Web Awards

from the it's-up-to-you dept

A few weeks ago, we asked everyone for nominations for the Open Web Awards. Thanks to all of those who nominated sites, they were tallied up. It is now time for the voting rounds. For each category, 11 sites were selected from all of the nominations from the 30 partner sites. We've created a voting page for each of these categories:
  • Mainstream and Large Scale Networks
  • Applications and Widgets
  • Social News and Social Bookmarking
  • Social Search
  • Sports and Fitness
  • Photo Sharing
  • Video Sharing
  • Start Pages
  • Places and Events
  • Music
  • Social Shopping
  • Mobile
  • Niche and Miscellaneous Social Networks
This round of voting closes on Sunday, December 16th at 11:59pm PST. After this, the top three sites in each category will go up against each other to determine the final winner. Happy voting!

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Are you going to give the source code for these pages to Diebold and ES&S so they can get e-voting right?
