How To Respond To Criticism: EA's Tiger Woods Walks On Water Ad
from the nice-shot dept
In an age where anyone can speak up, and anyone can criticize you, the first reaction of many folks is to hit back hard -- even trying to take down critical info. As we all know, that's exactly the wrong thing to do. But, it's still quite difficult to turn something that's negative into a positive quite as well as video game company EA just did. Mathew Ingram has the details, but basically, when last year's version of EA's Tiger Woods golfing game came out, some users made a video jokingly pointing out that a glitch in the game allows Tiger Woods to stand in the middle of a water trap and take a shot:Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Re:
I used to edit my saved game files with a hex editor and give myself large amounts of money so I could buy all the cool upgrades and weapons for them. Heh, I was so 1337 back then. :D
Ah, good times. How come they don't seem to make games like that anymore?

Christian response
Matthew 14 29-31
29.And He said, "Come!" And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
30.But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!"
31. Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"
I hope that none of you will doubt Jesus Christ, but cry out to Him to save you from the deep water and swirling winds of this world.
In Christ
