DailyDirt: Spiders, Man!

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

Spiders are just fascinating creatures -- not only because they have a crazy number of appendages, but also because they create intricate webs and seem to have incredibly complex behaviors for such small animals. To top it off, we're learning something new about the properties of spider silk all the time. Here are just a few examples. By the way, StumbleUpon can recommend some good Techdirt articles, too.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Waiting for the spider weave heatsinks for electronics that you don't need to throw out but just put on the washing machine, no more silver goo to mess around when cleaning the microprocessor fan yay!

The Canadians have apparently been exploring various ways of getting spiders to produce the right type of material. Looks as though they've got a way to go, eh.

Well shucks. Couldn't let yet another Daily Dirt/Spiders posting pass by without supplying a link to my personal all-time favorite video. Still "cracks" me up. For those late to the party, eh...
