DailyDirt: Believable Dieting

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

Maybe you're not eating meat today or perhaps planning to avoid various foods that aren't kosher for Passover. (Or you're blissfully eating whatever you want...) People follow a lot of eating guidelines based on all sorts of issues -- religious, ethical or other. There are all kinds of diets: to lose weight, to prevent high blood pressure, to save animals' lives, to kill fruits. Whatever diet suits your fancy, you might want to check out some of these stories on dietary restrictions and food beliefs. If you'd like to read more awesome and interesting stuff, check out this unrelated (but not entirely random!) Techdirt post via StumbleUpon.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    meat

I am a normal religious man, but to be honest I havent kept any sort of diet, and I really disagree that it would make me less religious than I am.
I do strongly agree about the placebo effect on food labels, if you look closely in malls and supermarkets, everyone is looking so serious on the labels, like thats their main preoccupation, right ?

    Good News: All Diets Work

Bad news: none of them works for long.

Ultimately, there is no substitute for being disciplined in your eating habits. Unfortunately that’s a lifelong process. It takes willpower and discipline to succeed.

I’ll go wash my mouth out now...

"Tomato sauce is a vegetable, right?"

    Tomatoes are fruit, not vegetables.

Re: Tomatoes are fruit, not vegetables.

Wise man once said: “Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.”

Just keep telling yourself that. If that's what you want to believe, go ahead and believe it.

"Can you lose weight by only eating ice cream for four days straight?". If you're lactose-intolerant, probably so.
