DailyDirt: Curious, Yummy Lobsters

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

We've pointed out some unusual lobster links before, but there seems to be no end to the discovery of huge lobsters and crazy stories about these invertebrates. Here are just a few more links on these so-called cockroaches of the sea. If you'd like to read more awesome and interesting stuff, check out this unrelated (but not entirely random!) Techdirt post via StumbleUpon.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Is any living thing immortal? Why would lobsters be different?

    Parrots

Parrots live so long if you get a young one, be prepare to include them in the will! I think they live up to 70 or more. And they are much more human-friendly than lobsters I do believe!

Enough stories about these fake lobsters...

John Hodgman explained that these crustaceans are actually johnny-come-latelies, and the original form of the lobster was a furry creature more like a sea otter. Jonathan Coulton wrote a song about it.
