DailyDirt: Meals From Around The World

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

People eat all kinds of different things in different parts of the world. Some countries have well-known traditional meals and menu items, and foodies all over the internet are posting pictures of what they're eating all the time. Food-obsessed folks seem to like to capture snapshots of food -- both good and bad -- for fun and commentary. Here are some global food snapshots for you to look over that might not be all that appetizing. If you'd like to read more awesome and interesting stuff, check out this unrelated (but not entirely random!) Techdirt post via StumbleUpon.

Food porn is really popular. In South Korea, people like to watch other people binge eating. I don't get it, but ... It happens.

The problem with "healthy" food (like the swill Mrs. Obama is promoting) is that it tastes like shit. Nobody wants to make eating a chore, which it ends up being if you're force-fed nothing but broccoli and protein drinks 5 days of the week.

Maybe the Dutch are more willing to tolerate eating their vegetables. Here in the 'States, if it don't taste like chicken, it ends up in the trash.

Not saying that doesn't have consequences. Just saying that the dieticians are going to have a hard time persuading Americans to eat healthier if the healthy stuff smells and tastes like a turd sandwich.
