DailyDirt: Flying Contraptions

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

Flying machines have been with us now for a little over 100 years. We still don't have flying cars clogging up the skies, but that's probably not such a bad thing. However, we still have a bunch of folks trying to improve upon flying in various ways. All kinds of quadcopters appear to be the trendy way to get things in the air nowadays, but we still have quite a ways to go before we're flying as gracefully as birds. After you've finished checking out those links, take a look at our Daily Deals for cool gadgets and other awesome stuff.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

I was wondering why they did the hoverboard record on a lake... Until I realized that they wanted to run it until the batteries or whatever just died and plunged the rider into water. Guess they didn't want to put the extra weight of wheels on it to do it on land.
