DailyDirt: Winning Isn't Everything

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

Not that long ago, we mentioned that progress towards an algorithm that could play the game of Go better than humans was on the horizon. It looks like our wetware shouldn't be too smug about being able to play Go now, but we can still have fun playing, right? And it'll still take a while before robots are any good at (non-contact) sports. Ping pong, FTW! After you've finished checking out those links, take a look at our Daily Deals for cool gadgets and other awesome stuff.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    Ain't it the truth

And you probably up-ended the board to end the game.

Nearly all board games in our family ended when someone kicked the board across the room. ESPECIALLY The Game of Life.

I had a version of Monopoly on my old phone and learned to use all those strategies very effectively. Especially the part about getting the light blue properties and building houses fast. It allows you to get a lot of cash flow quickly.

    Just the beginning

That's just the beginning for cut-throat Monopoly. Remember, if the rules don't forbid it, it's legal! I like purchasing/selling options, "free" lands, rent discounts, futures, etc. make it as complicated as real investing!

    Re: Just the beginning

Have tried combining 4 different sets and running it as a cloverleaf?

    Re: Just the beginning

I used to form alliances with weaker players, to try and bankrupt the stronger ones.

    I'd always end up losing...
