Opera Reads & Responds To Oprah's Mail
from the dealing-with-the-public dept
We know a little something about how certain segments of the population seem to get confused in trying to contact the right company or person, leading them to contact someone entirely different. So it comes as little surprise to us to find out that Opera, makers of the semi-popular browser software, has been receiving emails from confused people, who thought they were emailing Oprah Winfrey. And with her final show this week, Opera decided to share some of that mail. Even better, is that it shares the company's responses as well. Here's just one, but hit the link above to read a bunch more:Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Let this be a lesson to you. DON'T DOWNLOAD HAIR!! It's wrong, and since it grew out of someone else's head, you can't take it. Because shaving it off is stealing, and downloading it is piracy. So there!

I’d Love To Sing On Oprah ...
I’d love to sing on Oprah,
if I could have my choice.

Told me I ought to do so ...

If she hasn't received any "confused" emails, now is the best time to send them in. Her show is over and she should have plenty of time to get working on those "browser fixes".
I can imagine the laugh people might get out of seeing a few of those emails.

Semi-popular
What I think you meant was:
-Not very popular browser software
-Browser about as popular as OS/2
