Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Reading Techdirt right now on a Linux box?

It would be interesting to host a survey as to how many of your readers are Linux only and for how long?

Re: Reading Techdirt right now on a Linux box?

I run Lubuntu as my primary OS - still have my Windows partition should I need it for a Windows-only program.

I've been a Linux user & developer for about 10 years now. At home, all of my boxes are Linux. At work, though, I also develop for Windows and have several Win boxen.

I'm Linux-only (except as required by work), and have been since... maybe 2002? Hard to recall the exact dates1998, I think. Switched over cold-turkey from Win98SE, having rejected XP, and have never regretted it.

My personal laptop has been duel-boot between Vista and Debian since 2008. I haven't booted to the Vista partition for 3 or 4 years now.
