Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

USB battery pack that also starts car engines

On a previous page of Techdirt Daily Deal ad featuring an external battery pack (one of many), someone had asked about finding a battery pack that would also start a car.

Michael Ho gave a good recommendation (and a link to Amazon.com) but Techdirt vendor StackSocial also sells that same type of item -- though for some reason it has never appeared on Techdirt.

    20,000mAh? Wow!

    That’s as much as 20,000,000µAh!

    Why not just say 20Ah?

    Re: unit inflation: 20,000mAh = 20Ah

Actually, it’s the opposite: I think the bigger number with the smaller units sounds like a smaller quantity than the smaller number with the bigger units.

For example: it’s currently about 1.15 million seconds until Christmas.

It’s like an anti-marketing ploy. I wonder when the salesfolks will wake up and realize this?
